Introduction

University mission

Who are we?

The New Hope Baptist Church of Szeged is a new, mainstream church. It consists of current and former students of the University of Szeged, as well as many other enquirers. The church planting was started as our response to God 's calling to establish a new, independent, modern baptist church in the city of Szeged. So, we were born as a church on November 30th, 2008, by branching out from the New Hope Church of Debrecen.

Our purpose is to share the gospel with anyone, at any time, regardless of the obstacles of culture, society, style or language.
We try to work in accordance with our parent church, and we are grateful for their help, which we attempt to return to the best of our abilities.

What we believe? Who do we believe in?

We believe as the Bible declares that God is one, but He exists as three persons: He is the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Bible (39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament) was inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the revelation of God in which he revealed himself to man and has been protected from any potential errors by the Father. It is not only a book, but a life-giving nutriment, because this is the way we can get to know God and develop a direct relationship with Him.

Jesus Christ is the embodiment of God, Who has become a man. After His baptism, He proclaimed the Kingdom of God, healed the sick, expelled demons, and made miracles among the people, and with His crucifixion He reconciled God and paid the penalty for our sins. On the third day, He rose from the dead for our justification (so He credits us with His justice and accepts us without sin). Thereafter, He went to Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

We believe in Him, because we experienced that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever, and if the Son sets us free, we will be free indeed.

According to the Bible, Jesus, the only propitiator between God and man, prays for us, and so we are accepted by God.

We believe that God had decided from the beginning that all sinners who were lost will be offered the redemption gained by Jesus Christ. Therefore, each person can decide for him or herself if he or she accepts or refuses this grace.

Our purpose:

To plant a new, mainstream church which is willing and capable of reaching, teaching, and inspiring people who haven't known God, to come and serve Him. Our main desire is to live and work for the living God's glory, to share the good news with all the people who don’t know Christ personally yet, and to help those who have a religious background to find release and redemption in Jesus. A place which has special importance in our ministry is the university (University mission).

We aim to make everyone feel that they are needed and important in the ministry, and that they can become suitable for their own mission. We feel it is our task to teach, help and also inspire converted, reborn Christians to go into service.

„I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you...”(Romans 1:14-15)

„We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.” (1 John 1:3-4)

Jesus says: „I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” (John 15:11)
